#1-Picture 1

May 16, 2008

This picture, in my opinion of course, is pretty ironic. In the back round we see one of America’s biggest and most valued prides, the U.S Capitol building found in Washington D.C. The Capitol serves as the seat of the government for the United States congress, and the legislative branch of the U.S federal government. It also tends to exemplify freedom in the eyes of many people, with the statue on the top of the dome being called the Statue of Freedom. The foreground of the picture is a clear example of the American ghetto. The ghetto and the Capitol make a strange mix, creating the irony. It also shows how in America, or anywhere actually, the poor and discriminated is never too far from the rich and glamorous. Poverty is found everywhere, even in the capital of the United States.
